Recollect. Go get yours.

Last night, as I simmered the mexican rice and chopped the avocado to top our chicken, a swarm of memories flashed. Have you ever had that happen? When just out of no where a whole years worth of memories pop into your head. That's what this was. I remembered back to when I was working at the country club and going to school full time. Days like yesterday happened maybe once a month back then.

Back then the laundry piled up, dinner consisted of a can of soup and there was wouldn't have been time for watering the freshly planted grass in our lawn. Or for planting grass at all. Back then life consisted of late nights, writing papers and finishing paintings. It consisted of early morning managers meetings and long holiday shifts. It never consisted of a Monday that was equal parts productive and leisurely. NEVER. I used to sleep all my free time away because working 50 hours a week and taking 4 or 5 classes a semester left no time for sleep during the week.

I remembered all these things as I looked around at my house. Clean, organized, put away. Everything. I thought how lucky or blessed or determined I am. Who knows, maybe all of those things I guess. But there was a time in my life I never thought I be able to live this way. The thought of enjoying the sunset on a spring evening while the birds chirped wasn't for me, it was for those 9-5ers. And how unfair it was that they had those opportunities, and I would probably be in school forever. That's what I thought.

And then I started my own business. I still work 50 hours a week, but I do so watching the sunset on a spring evening while the birds chirp. Without me even knowing it, this was my dream, my goal...and it just so happened that somewhere along these years, I found it.

Find your dream. Go out and look for it. Sit quietly and look within. Find it however you can.
Dream your dream, and go get yours too!!
