Senior Portraits...

I always thought I would be a senior portrait photographer. Until I took my first session. I'm not crazy about backdrops, or lighting, or props, or poses. However; back, and I mean way back when I first "photographed" my brother's senior pictures in 2007 I tried to incorporate all of those things. I thought those were the simple, no-bake, ingredients to senior pictures.
These days, I think its viewed more appropriate to use available light and go out on location to shoot seniors. In my experience, it's not for everyone. Some people want that perfect, even light and the look of a studio. Some people want the natural feel of the out side light and a nice evening breeze. And, some people just don't know what they want.
Senior pictures aren't my specialty, if I can even say I have a specialty. I lack the ability to evoke a natural emotion out of my clients when I am one on one with them. I haven't yet taken the leap into investigating this area of my work because, well, I'm frankly not sure that I want to.
BUT, every now and then I offer up my services for free, to a willing lab-rat. Or who ever will let me follow them around with a camera for a few hours.
Nikoleta is my friend, we work in the restaurant together and I think she's beautiful. So, I offered to take her senior pictures in exchange for her passing out some marketing materials for me. Deal.
Here are a few that I've played around with this evening! Enjoy! I think she should skip college and go straight to NYC for a modeling career, but don't tell her Dad I said that. ;-)

ITS BACK!

Blogger was down for maintenance, so I wasn't able to post the preview for my latest senior session, Ryan from Manchester High School. I feel like Ryan kinda got ripped off, by not having a proper sneak peek of his images. So, I'm going to give him a couple more!!

Ryan and I ventured out to find a bridge that I wasn't even sure existed anywhere besides my dreams. OK, I lie, I'd been there before but my sense of direction is down there on the list with my less than mediocre math skills, so I wasn't sure if we'd find it. I knew that we'd find something awesome along the way if we didn't. 

Ryan and I work together at a restaurant, and he is super fun. When he asked me to do his seniors I was pretty excited!! I think we had a good time together during the couple of hours in the heat, bright sunshine and in between changing in my dirty, cramped car. Ryan was just glad it had tinted windows!! Oh, and we found the bridge!
