Chicago greeted us with open arms. We're New Yorkers, so that was a unexpected and welcomed experience. When we arrived in the city I was soo surprised by how unlike Cleveland Chicago is. I expected it to be smaller, less New York...but just as everyone told me, it's like a cleaner, smaller NYC. The shore line looked like something you would see abroad, the sky was this electric blue and the water was a tropical teal with this milky, creamy blue floating on top....it was amazing. Every time I looked at it, I couldn't believe that we were only 6 hours from home.
Our hotel was like something from an episode of Gossip Girl. We arrived during the day (thank God) because toting in my mini blue cooler and pillow could have been the most embarrassing moment of my adult life had we arrived that night around midnight. We ended up seeing Eve 6 play, and another great band from Switzerland and when we got back to the hotel it was like we were checking in to a night club.
The girls in the lobby we wearing their red-bottomed Christian Louboutins with their barely below the cheek cocktail dresses. ALL the boys had Adam Levine hair, and were sporting dress shirts and blazers and skinny pants. We had no idea that the hotel we were staying in was the NEW hot spot in Chi-Town.
With a little research we learned that this hotel was a re-do of an old 1920's Chicago landmark, the Ambassador East. And now, since it's reopening has been the buzz in the Gold Coast neighborhood.
What I most loved about the hotel was the room. It COULDN'T have been more perfect for our boudoir party!! But I'll have more on that later!!
Here's some shots of the trip!!
nice, mom
