90 years...

I had the honor of photographing a friend's Grandma's 90th birthday party a week or so ago. I graciously accepted the job and I was sincerely excited to be a part of the day.

You see, my grandparents didn't make it to 90. 2 of them didn't make it to 80. So, when I say I have a soft spot in my heart for grandparents, I say it with truth, and I say it with sorrow. I miss my grandparents, and I am sad they missed those last 20 years of life, and the last 10 years of my life. I wish they were here, so that we could do the chicken dance together and blow out candles on their 90th birthday cake. I wish they were here to see what we've all done with ourselves because I know they would be proud.

It's clear from these images that Grandma Groom is proud of her family. And she has every right to be.
Thank you all for allowing me to be in the presence of such a big and wonderful collection of generations!

She was full of smiles! :-)

We snuck away for a private portrait!!

Chicken Dancing, at 90 years old, in HEELS!!!  That's once fierce Grandma!!!

Pointing out her name on the family tree with Dad.

Siblings. They were being ornery. :-)
